What you will learn

The LLB Law degree at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is designed to develop both your understanding of law and your practical skills in legal analysis. Through a combination of theoretical learning, case studies, and practical assignments, we ensure that you gain the knowledge required for legal practice while focusing on employability.
 

Year 1

In your first year, you will be introduced to the foundational areas of law, including Contract Law, Criminal Law, and Tort Law. You will also explore the Legal Process, building a strong base for more advanced studies. The focus will be on developing your legal research skills, essential for academic and professional success.


Year 2

Year two delves deeper into specific legal topics such as Employment Law and Business Law. You will gain the opportunity to specialize in subjects that align with your career aspirations, such as Legal Practice and further research into specific areas of law. The focus will also be on critical thinking and applying theory to practical scenarios.

Year 3

In your final year, you will engage in a dissertation, where you can apply your research skills to a legal topic of your choice. This year will also allow you to further specialize in areas of legal practice. You will focus on developing reflective skills and preparing for roles in the legal profession, whether as a solicitor, barrister, or within related fields such as the Ministry of Justice.

  • 96 UCAS points or equivalent.

  • The course will be assessed by a mixture of written coursework, simulations, workbooks, presentations and exams. Each module is worth 20 credits, except the 40 credit Independent Project at Level 6. 

  • It is possible to complete this programme of study without any additional costs.

    Students may wish to purchase textbooks for modules, such as Research Project, but this is not a requirement and will have no bearing on the final grade.

    There may also be optional field trips which may incur some costs.

  • The course team has developed very close links with a number of professional organisations in both the public sector and legal services fields. This has allowed for close consultation on the development of course content and the availability of unique work experience opportunities.

    The course works closely with other Public sector organisations, the combination of both legal and public sector understanding and knowledge would be seen as a benefit to the wider legal Justice professions.

    The team has developed close relationships with local law firms and organisations and developing work experience opportunities that would benefit the students if they chose to extend into further legal justice study.
