About

The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø (ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø) has an ambitious mission. We aim to transform education and by doing so transform the lives of the individuals and communities we serve.

The University is part of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Group, a confederation of several institutions which includes Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion as constituent colleges. August 2017 saw the integration of the University of Wales and the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Group offers a continuum from further to higher education for the benefit of learners, employers and communities.

The University’s history began in 1822 with the founding of our Lampeter campus. It enjoys the accolade of being the birthplace of higher education in Wales. The University’s 1828 Royal Charter is the oldest of any university in Wales.

Today, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is a dynamic institution with campuses Swansea, Carmarthen, Lampeter, Cardiff, London, and Birmingham.

An Inspiring Curriculum

Our curriculum has been designed to ensure that our students are given the opportunity to develop the graduate attributes required to take their place in a technologically enabled workplace. Our aim is to develop reflective graduates and practitioners who can make a difference to society. We are committed to sustainability development and the environment as one of our underpinning values. It is a theme that is woven into the student experience enabling the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø graduate to develop the right knowledge, skills, and attributes to take their place wherever they may be in the future.

"A connected University"

We believe that the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is the connected University; connected through a range of strategic partnerships that we have developed at regional, national, and international level which serve to inspire our learners, staff, and partners. Our connections extend to public, private, and voluntary sector employers who are working with us to develop relevant programmes and activities to maximise opportunities for jobs growth and investment in the region.

Investing in our Campuses

Our campuses act as strategic economic, cultural and social hubs facilitating the delivery of our civic mission. Over the past two centuries we have evolved, transforming our academic offer to respond to the social and economic needs of the day. We work with our communities at grassroots levels to provide transformational opportunities, building their capacity, resilience and creating opportunities to reinforce their sense of place and distinctiveness.
