ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is a naturally bilingual University, where Welsh and English coexist in harmony. A high percentage of our staff and students across our campuses can speak Welsh and it is therefore possible for Welsh speakers to receive support through the medium of Welsh in all aspects of student life here. We are also very proud to support any student who wishes to learn Welsh or develop their Welsh-language skills during their time at the University.

Welsh Medium and Bilingual Courses
Here at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø we have a range of Welsh medium and bilingual courses across our campuses. Perhaps you haven’t considered studying for your degree or part of your degree program through the medium of Welsh until now, or perhaps you don’t feel confident about studying your program entirely through the medium of Welsh. Don’t worry, you are in good hands. You will get support from the University throughout your studies, you won’t be alone.

Scholarships and Bursaries

Students at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø who take Welsh-medium or bilingual undergraduate courses or modules have a special opportunity to obtain financial support from the University and Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.

£50 is awarded for every 10 credits successfully completed by an undergraduate student through the medium of Welsh/bilingually.

Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol awards a number of scholarships to students who study specific courses partly, or entirely, through the medium of Welsh.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø plays a key role in providing Welsh-medium higher education and has an active Branch of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. The Branch organises a range of academic and social events for staff and students, from the annual lecture, conferences, freshers events and annual dinner, to the social choir and informal chats for Welsh learners. In addition, the Branch offers linguistic and financial support to Welsh-speaking students.
The Welsh Society – is run by University students, and various activities and social events are organised, providing plenty of opportunities to make friends and gain new experiences; from international rugby trips to sports competitions and the Intercollegiate Eisteddfod… there are opportunities and activities to suit everyone!
The University’s Welsh Language Services Centre is here to support you. As well as being responsible for promoting and developing Welsh-medium education opportunities, the centre is home to Rhagoriaith and Peniarth.
Learning Welsh at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø
Here at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø we are committed to training and preparing students for bilingual Wales. We provide Welsh lessons free of charge to our staff and students.
