Chloe Griffiths, a recent graduate of the 窪蹋勛圖厙 (窪蹋勛圖厙), has successfully transitioned from a career in accounting to a thriving role in the events industry. Chloe, who has just completed her degree in Events and International Festivals Management, reflects on her journey and the transformative experience that led her to a permanent position as Production Coordinator with Limitless, an annual vibrant summer gathering for young people that’s all about community, connection and change.

Chloes interest in the events industry began through volunteering at various festivals and events. After completing her A levels, she spent five years working in accounting. However, she soon realised that her skills in accounting could complement her passion for event management. This led her to explore different event courses, eventually finding the perfect fit at 窪蹋勛圖厙.

I chose 窪蹋勛圖厙 because the Event and International Festival Management degree offered a comprehensive curriculum with practical applications, Chloe explained. The course would help develop my knowledge, skills, and understanding, and provided opportunities for work placements and travel abroad. The chance to stay in Swansea for my studies was an added bonus!

Chloes goals were clear from the outset. She aimed to build confidence, enhance her problem-solving abilities, and gain hands-on experience in strategic and operational planning.

My ambition was to become a reliable and skilled events manager, someone an events team could count on, Chloe said. The course provided me with the broader knowledge and experience I needed to pursue this career.

Throughout her three years at 窪蹋勛圖厙, Chloe experienced numerous highlights, including international trips to Switzerland and Canada to study their event infrastructure. These experiences were unforgettable, she said. They gave me invaluable insight into how different industries collaborate for events.

Chloe also had the opportunity to organise the ITT Future You Conference and Exhibition at Swansea Arena. This experience allowed her to apply theories learned in lectures to real-life scenarios, build connections, and gain first-hand experience in event management.

During her degree, Chloe secured a position with Limitless, where she worked on preparing, planning, and executing their summer festival and conferences. This experience was the perfect complement to my studies and further developed my events knowledge and skills, she added.

Like many students, Chloe faced challenges during her studies, particularly as a mature student unsure of how she would fit in. However, with the support of her lecturers, especially Jacqui Jones, she quickly overcame these hurdles. Jacqui was always there to listen and offer advice, and learning from her experience was incredibly beneficial, she said.

Reflecting on her time at 窪蹋勛圖厙, Chloe highly recommends the course to others. The practical elements of the course, including work placements and running your own event, are hugely beneficial. These experiences helped me transition smoothly into organizing events in the workplace.

Chloes studies have already paid off, both professionally and personally. The course has built my knowledge of the events industry and boosted my confidence. Im now able to transfer my skills into my job, and I feel ready to apply what Ive learned to different situations, she said.

Chloe has now secured a permanent role with Limitless as their Production Coordinator. She recently returned from working at Limitless Festival 2024, where over 5,000 people attended. Im excited to be a part of this team and to have the opportunity to continue working on such impactful events, she said.

Jacqui Jones, Program Manager International Travel, Tourism, Events & Festivals Management Portfolio said: It has been wonderful to see Chloe make the most of all the opportunities available during her studies  to develop her event skills through managing a series of events to secure an excellent graduate role. I’m looking forward to watching her career in event management take off.
