Our course is 100% coursework, with no exams. This includes innovative industry assessments and events-based assessments. What you will learn
Events and festivals play a key role in driving economic and socio-cultural development for cities and destinations. Events graduates are in high demand.
Our course ensures you understand the industry’s structure and functions, emphasising hospitality and guest service. We focus on hands-on learning, industry connections, and developing your creative and managerial skills and the importance of marketing and social media in the events sector.
As the programme progresses, students will apply academic theories to real-life event case studies. This includes planning and managing live events, and developing operational management knowledge through classroom learning, behind-the-scenes event visits, paid placements, and volunteering opportunities.
Students will also develop strategic understanding and specialisms in Sports Events, Festivals, Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Weddings and Banquets.
Where possible, students will engage in projects, events, and U.K. & International educational experiences that support academic learning and industry appreciation*.
Students will have the chance to virtually meet global industry leaders and graduates to discuss current issues and participate in behind-the-scenes digital or live industry visits.
Through their studies, placements and extra-curricular activities, student can pursue additional industry-based and qualifications. This may include a range of opportunities to gain ABTA and Travel Trade certificated qualifications, WSET Wine Training* (* for which there may be an additional charge) and gain a range of Events experiences. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is also an ABTA Educational Partner, Institute of Travel and Tourism Educational Partner and students are members of Institute of Hospitality.

In your first year, you will explore the basics of Event Management, including the principles of hospitality, tourism, and the impacts of events on local economies. You’ll gain introductory skills in event operations, marketing, and project management, setting the foundation for your studies.

Please note also that our offers are not based solely on your academic achievements; we take into account your full range of skills, experience and attainments when considering your application.
The degree welcomes applicants who have previously studied business for a natural progression. Those who have studied other subject areas will transfer well. Those with work experience, but few formal qualifications, may also join the programme. A-Level and Edexcel awards, as well as a range of other certificates at this level from UK, EU and International bodies, are respected.
Grades are important; however, our offers are not solely based on academic results. We are interested in creative people that demonstrate a strong commitment to their chosen subject area, and therefore we welcome applications from individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. To assess student suitability for their chosen course we normally arrange interviews for all applicants at which your skills, achievements and life experience will be considered as well as your qualifications.

The programme will be assessed through a structured mix of practical assessments, events, placements, case studies, audits, training exercises, management reports, presentations, essays, event reviews, DVD/videos, vlogs/ blogs, feasibility studies, projects, bid pitches and the opportunity to plan, organise and assess event tours and experiences.
Assessments will wherever possible be designed to develop professional skills as well as developing critical thinking, leadership, events management, guest service and teamwork in preparation for careers in the events . There will be NO examinations on this course.

Our students have access to a diverse range of equipment and resources, which in most cases are sufficient to complete their programme of study. We provide the basic materials necessary for students to undertake their modules.
However, hospitality, leisure and tourism students will likely incur some additional costs associated with field trips. Year to year these costs vary from £25 at level 4, to £500 at level 5 and up to £1,000 at level 6 however these are all subsidised.
Residential Field trips are optional and costs may vary but are likely to be in the region of £150 for UK Residential Trips, £500 for European Trips and £1,000 for Global Trips.
In addition students will have the opportunity where available to apply for Taith funding to support longer International Trips and Placements. -
Career development bursaries of up to £1,000 are available for students to support placements, internships and events volunteering. Students may also be eligible to apply for the Discover Project to support International Mobility to support short International Placement Experiences
