Background
Aled joined ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø in 2016 following 18 years teaching Welsh at Ysgol y Strade, Llanelli. There, he developed as a reliable subject leader across KS3, KS4 and KS5 and all ability ranges. One of his responsibilities as Assistant Head was mentoring teachers and NQTs. He developed strategies to support the progress and development of student teachers and teachers that were new to the profession. This included working together with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø in developing new models of mentoring.
Supporting students in their development is a key principle for him. Alongside CSC consortium, he developed a training programme on the effective use of Coaching and Mentoring strategies. The training is a foundation for the internal training of staff and the APLP professional networks.
He is an external examiner with WJEC for A Level Welsh Units U1 and U4 and GCSE Welsh Literature. He has wide-ranging experience of working with WJEC in developing examinations and examining a range of Welsh qualifications – Entry Level, GCSE Welsh, GCSE Welsh Literature and A Level Welsh.
