Demonstrating a determined commitment to advancing her education and career, Shana Rankin, a former NHS divisional support admin officer, has successfully transitioned into a career in public health and social care, thanks to the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø (ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s) Birmingham campus.

Shana said: “My desire to advance my career led me to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, a university known for its diverse range of courses that align perfectly with my interests and goals. My role in the NHS, where I was responsible for recruiting healthcare professionals, solidified my passion for making a positive impact in the healthcare sector. Completing my BSc in Health and Social Care with honours while excelling in this pivotal role was a significant milestone.â€

Driven by a desire to further her expertise, Shana enrolled for the MSc in Public Health and Social Care Practices at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, achieving distinction.

Shana said: “I chose this course because it offered a solid foundation and a diverse range of knowledge essential for my professional growth. My ambitions were to expand my knowledge in health and social care, grow professionally, and contribute meaningfully to people’s lives. This course was instrumental in helping me reach my goals.â€

Balancing academic responsibilities with personal challenges, including recovery from surgery, was no small feat. 

“The support from my classmates, family, and particularly my lecturer, Dr Aishat Bakre, was crucial in overcoming these challenges. Their support helped me transition back to university smoothly.â€

Encouraging others to consider this course, Shana added: “This course stands out for its comprehensive learning experiences, preparing individuals for successful careers in public health and social care. It has been incredibly beneficial both professionally and personally, broadening my perspective and enhancing my ability to make a positive impact.â€
