The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol creates training and study opportunities in Welsh by working with further education colleges, universities, apprenticeship providers and employers. We inspire and encourage everyone to use their Welsh skills.
The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol aims to build a Welsh and bilingual education and training system open to all and to develop bilingual workforces.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø plays a key role in providing Welsh-medium higher education and has an active Branch of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. The Branch organises an offering of social events, from annual freshers and dinner events, to the social Choir and a coffee and chat gatherings for those looking to use their Welsh skills. In addition, the Branch offers linguistic and financial support to Welsh-speaking students.

The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol awards a number of scholarships to students studying certain courses partly, or wholly, through the medium of Welsh. For full details of the scholarships, visit the .
Welsh Language Skills Certificate
The University also gives everyone who speaks Welsh the opportunity to enrol on the Welsh Language Skills Certificate which provides evidence to employers about your language skills and enriches your CV. Registration can be made on the website.
Y Porth
Y Porth is the Coleg Cymraeg’s collaborative e-learning platform. It was established in 2009 to encourage Universities to share Welsh medium teaching resources with each other. As a result, it has developed into a crucial hub for the studying and teaching of University courses through the medium of Welsh.
The Portal is based on Blackboard, and is open to staff and students at all Welsh universities.
It includes:
- electronic resources and materials
- web gallery
- modules and support materials
- a searchable portal of terms for higher education
Although the gateway contains a number of open resources, it is necessary to register as a user in order to access some resources (eg specific modules).

Your Branch Officer
Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol has a Branch and Branch Officer at each University and their main work includes:
- To increase the opportunities available to students to study University courses through the medium of Welsh
- Supporting students studying through the medium of Welsh
- Organising social activities
- Offering Welsh-medium students and staff the opportunity to have their say on their University’s Welsh-medium issues
Ffion Hann Jones is our Branch Officer here at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. Although her office is centrally located on the Carmarthen campus, the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Branch of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol is operational across all University campuses including Swansea, Lampeter, Cardiff and Coleg Sir Gâr campuses. Prospective students, current students and staff, are welcome to drop in, email or pick up the phone for a chat and receive advice and information regarding the work of the branch at any time.
