ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Hosts Royal Institute of Philosophy Lecture Series Event: 'Hot Potato Talk and Lunch'
The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø (ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø) is delighted to announce an engaging event as part of its ongoing Royal Institute of Philosophy Lecture Series.
This unique gathering, titled ‘Hot Potato Talk and Lunch: An Afternoon of Discussion on the Value of Food’, promises stimulating conversations centred on the significance of food, featuring insights from local farmers and growers.
This afternoon event is designed to spark meaningful dialogue about food’s intrinsic and societal value, bringing together members of the community, agricultural experts, and philosophy enthusiasts alike. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore philosophical perspectives on food ethics, sustainability, and the relationship between communities and their food sources.
Dr Rebekah Humphreys, Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and organiser of the lecture series, expressed excitement for the upcoming event: “The ‘Hot Potato Talk and Lunch’ represents a perfect blend of philosophical inquiry and community interaction. By engaging directly with local farmers and growers, we aim to deepen our understanding of food’s role not only as sustenance but as a reflection of our values, culture, and responsibilities towards each other and the environment.â€
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s collaboration with the Royal Institute of Philosophy underscores its commitment to fostering critical thinking and public engagement in philosophical discourse.
