ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Celebrates Finley Graham’s Success at WorldSkills 2024 in Lyon
The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø (ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø) is proud to congratulate Finley Graham on their remarkable achievement at the WorldSkills 2024 competition held in Lyon, France from September 10 to 14. Competing against participants from 25 countries in the highly competitive IT Network and Systems Administration (IT-NSA) Skill category, Finley was awarded a prestigious Medallion of Excellence, a testament to their exceptional skills and performance on the global stage.
For the past nine months, Finley has been training at the School of Applied Computing at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø under the guidance of Dr Nitheesh Murugan Kaliyamurthy, Senior Lecturer and Training Manager for the WorldSkills UK IT-NSA Squad. The training programme, designed to push competitors to excel in their field, focused on advanced technical proficiency in Windows and Linux Networking, Data Transfer and Troubleshooting of IT network and systems.
Dr Kaliyamurthy said: “Finley’s commitment to achieving excellence and their perseverance during the rigorous training period is truly commendable. Their success at WorldSkills 2024 highlights Finley’s individual talent and the level of training and expertise available at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.â€
Finley’s journey to success began in 2023 when they secured the Gold medal in the WorldSkills UK National Finals for the Network Infrastructure Technician Skill. Building on this triumph, Finley was invited to join the WorldSkills UK IT-NSA squad in January 2024, marking the start of an intensive journey aimed at honing their skills and benchmarking them against international standards.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø also extends its gratitude to Ray Halls, Technician at the School of Applied Computing, for his invaluable support in providing the necessary infrastructure and resources for the training sessions, ensuring that Finley was fully prepared to meet the demands of international competition.
Dr Kaliyamurthy added: “Finley’s outstanding performance at WorldSkills 2024 has brought great pride to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, and we wish them continued success in their future endeavours. Their journey exemplifies the importance of skill development and the impact of international collaboration in fostering the next generation of talent in the IT and computing industries.â€
WorldSkills Lyon is the world’s largest international skills competition, featuring 1,400 Competitors from almost 70 countries and regions. The 47th WorldSkills Competition showcased excellence in young skilled talent, while also bringing industry, education, and government leaders together to move skills to the top of the global agenda. WorldSkills is highlighting the critical role skills play in addressing global challenges, boosting economies and industries, and promoting excellence.
