Accomplished graduate, Amy Holley-Cribbin is making her mark in the creative industry with her video production company, Nomadic UK, a multi-award-winning agency based in Cheltenham that specialises in high-quality visual storytelling. Most recently, the company has been making a difference in the community through its innovative Charity Christmas Ad Competition.

A former English Literature student of our Lampeter campus, Amy credits her transformative time at Lampeter for shaping her creative journey. While at university, she directed several drama productions, including Wyrd Sisters and Abigail’s Party, and played a key role in campus life as President-Director of the Drama Society, Secretary of the Students’ Union, and co-editor of the 1822 magazine.

After earning her BA in 2009, Amy pursued further studies in theatre, film and Victorian literature, culminating in a PhD focused on Victorian novel-to-stage adaptations. During her studies, she presented a paper that earned her The Sally Ledge Memorial Travel Bursary from BAVS (British Association for Victorian Studies) in 2016. Her innovative research also led to the discovery of a long-lost play by dramatist, John Brougham, The Mystery of Audley Court, which she digitalised and published, cementing her reputation as a dedicated scholar and creative force.

In 2017, Amy and her husband decided to join forces, combining their complementary skills to create a unique space for themselves in the creative industry. This led to the launch of Nomadic UK, a company that has since worked with prestigious clients, including John Lewis, Superdry, and Paddy Power. In addition to these projects, Amy has lent her talents to crafting scripts for children’s TV shows and ghost-writing for high-profile figures. However, her Charity Christmas Ad Competition holds a special place in her heart as it enables her and the company to give back to the community around them.

Amy said: “We know how difficult the colder months can be for so many people. Christmas can be especially hard for families missing someone they love, whether due to illness, loss, or other challenges. Through this competition, we aim to give back to the community by creating an exceptional ad that can amplify a charity’s voice and fundraising efforts.â€

For the second year running, the company decided to offer the opportunity for a Gloucestershire-based charity to win a Christmas ad worth up to £4,000. Recognising the value of high-quality video content, which companies like John Lewis invest in for their own Christmas campaigns, Nomadic UK aims to provide a local charity with the same level of production.

This year’s winning entry, created for the youth homelessness charity Gloucestershire Nightstop, premiered on November 22 during a special press night. The heartwarming ad highlights the urgent need for local residents to open their homes to vulnerable young people during the winter months or donate to support the charity’s vital work.

Amy said: “We hope this ad sparks a powerful connection and drives the support Gloucestershire Nightstop needs this winter.â€

Amy’s journey from a passionate student at Lampeter to a respected figure in the creative world is a testament to her dedication and creativity. As a trailblazer in both the academic and creative fields, she continues to shape the storytelling excellence that Nomadic UK is renowned for.
