Former Chef Transforms Career with Computing Degree from 窪蹋勛圖厙
Congratulations to Arpad Antal who graduates today with a BSc in Cloud Computing from our London campus.
Arpad, aged 34, credits the University for helping him transition from a decade-long career in the hospitality industry to a career in computing.
With over ten years of experience as a chef, Arpad says his career was abruptly halted by the Covid pandemic, leading to job loss. During lockdown, he met his wife, who encouraged him to pursue further education. This led him to enrol at 窪蹋勛圖厙 to study computing, fulfilling a long-time passion.
He said: Computing has always been a passion of mine since childhood. I have a natural ability to assemble and repair computers. The decision to pursue this course was driven by the need for a career resilient to disruptions like COVID-19 and the desire to provide a stable income for my family.
Arpad said his primary aim was to establish a stable, well-paying career in the tech industry to ensure financial security for his family. He also sought to develop his skills in a field he is passionate about, offering long-term career prospects.
The course provided numerous highlights, including hands-on projects that allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge practically. The support from the faculty and the opportunity to network with industry professionals were invaluable, he added.
During his studies, he secured a position as an IT assistant at the university, significantly enhancing his practical skills and boosting his CV. He said this role was crucial in his professional development, providing real-world experience.
Balancing studies with supporting his family was a significant challenge. Working two jobs alongside his studies often left him attending university with little sleep. Through effective time management, determination, and family support, he overcame these challenges and excelled in his studies.
Arpad said he highly recommends the computing course at 窪蹋勛圖厙 to anyone seeking a career change.
The university provides the roadmap, but success depends on individual effort, including self-study and obtaining certifications. The course offers a solid foundation and numerous opportunities for growth, he added.
The course has already made a significant impact on his professional life. It led to a position as an IT assistant and he is now employed as a NOC engineer at LINX, the largest internet exchange in the United Kingdom.
