The Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education (OIA) operates an independent student complaints scheme in accordance with the Higher Education Act 2004. All higher education institutions in Wales and England are required to comply with the Rules of the scheme, which can be found on the OIA website . The OIA deals with individual complaints against higher education institutions and is a free service to students.
Before making a complaint to the OIA, students must first follow the University’s internal complaints and appeals processes. Students who are dissatisfied with the outcome may be able to complain to the OIA providing that their complaint is eligible under its Rules.
Students will need to send to the OIA a Scheme Application Form within three months of the date of the Completion of Procedures letter. A Scheme Application Form can be obtained from the Quality Assurance Unit and may also be downloaded from the OIA website . Students should send a copy of their Completion of Procedures letter to the OIA with their Scheme Application Form.
