What is your favourite thing about Carmarthen campus?
The intimacy of the campus and availability of facilities. Sport Therapy have a designated building ensuring there is appropriate and available teaching space. The ‘common area’ in the building really helps build the rapport between cohorts and the course has a community feel. There’s a real sense of family within the course where more experienced students support newer students through their studies.
Why did you choose ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø?
The Sport Therapy degree is endorsed by the Society of Sports Therapists, meaning it’s student are educated up to a required level of competency recognised within the sports industry. Aso being in Carmarthen, it was close to home to enable me to commute and still uphold my work/life commitments.
What did you enjoy outside your studies?
The vocational opportunities presented from the first year, the course design allowed me to explore my newly acquired skills and begin building experience and networking whilst studying, which supported my career trajectory.
How has your Sport & Exercise Therapy course helped you in your career?
Completing my degree completely changed my career. Prior to studying I worked in an insurance company; the degree has enabled me to start a career as a Sports Therapist. I was very fortunate to secure some work placements as a student which lead to paid employment upon graduation, including private practice and club sport (EFL Championship Academy). This gave me fast-tracked experience of exposure to complex and long-term injuries building a wealth of experience. This has expanded into international senior football. Furthermore, the course design, competencies and familiarity with the content has enabled me to transition my skills into academia and apply these to teach the next generation of Sports Therapists.

What is your favourite thing about Sport & Exercise Therapy?
It’s unique combination of Musculoskeletal medicine and Sport. Using Sport and Exercise principles to underpin the working knowledge throughout the degree course made it relevant to industry and prepared me for a career in Sport.
