Hello, my name is Elis and I’m in my second year of studying philosophy at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. I’ve learned more than I could have expected so far and I’m very glad that I chose to study in Lampeter. After graduating I intend to do further study in philosophy and foreign languages.

Why did you choose ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø?

I chose ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø specifically to study in a small town with a community feeling. With the size of the campus, I felt there would be flexibility that would otherwise be impossible in larger universities.

What did you enjoy outside your studies?

I enjoy playing football for the local team in Lampeter. I often play chess with my friends and study Japanese on my own.

Did you come to the University through an alternative route?

I started studying in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø after 4 years of being out of education. I didn’t finish high school, so I started with the foundation year. I was fortunate to receive a lot of support from the university to ensure that I could succeed.

What is your favourite thing about the Lampeter Campus?

What I like about Lampeter campus is how integrated everything is. The library, lecture halls, accommodation and students’ union are all close to each other, which gives a very personal feeling environment.  From the campus you can always see hills, trees and wildlife – this sets Lampeter apart as a beautiful and calm place to study. As the university grounds are a central part of the town, you can easily feel a sense of community walking around.

What is your favourite thing about Philosophy?

Whilst studying philosophy, I’ve enjoyed the opportunities to discuss with many of the lecturers. With smaller class sizes, I’ve had ample time to discuss with different experts in their respective fields. I am also grateful for the many chances to improve my writing, reading, discussion and presenting.
