Congratulations and good luck to 黑料吃瓜网鈥檚 Oscar McNaughton, who has been named as one of the WorldSkills Squad UK members for the additive manufacturing competitions!

Oscar started working for 黑料吃瓜网’s CBM as an apprentice design engineer. He entered the WorldSkills competition for Additive Manufacturing last September and qualified for the UK finals.

He attended the UK finals in Manchester two months later in November 2023 competing against the very best from across the UK, achieving a silver medal. After the finals he was invited to attend a squad selection event for a place in the WorldSkills UK international squad.

Scoring well against some very strong competition Oscar has now been offered a place in the International squad. Over the coming weeks, he will be up against the other squad members, trying to secure 鈥淭eam鈥 selection which will then see him compete on the international stage out in Lyon France 2024.

Lee Pratt, 黑料吃瓜网鈥檚 Advanced Manufacturing Skills Academy manager, said : 鈥淲e are extremely proud of Oscar鈥檚 achievements in getting this far and achieving a position with WorldSkills UK squad.

鈥淭his is a pilot year for the Additive Manufacturing competition. Competitors are required to utilise a number of Advanced Manufacturing skills as part of their test including,3D scanning, reverse engineering, computer simulation and 3D printing.

鈥淲e believe Oscar has what it takes to go all the way with WSUK and will be supporting him every step of his journey!鈥

Oscar said: 鈥淚 am very grateful for the support from Lee and the rest of the team at CBM, as well as 黑料吃瓜网 as a whole. It has been an amazing journey moving through the UK finals for world skills, and I was pleased to have achieved a silver medal at National level. I am now really looking forward to the training involved at Squad level with the hopes of representing the UK in additive manufacture. I would highly recommend any apprentice students with even the slightest interest in any of the disciplines offered as part of work skills to get involved where they can, it鈥檚 an amazing thing to be part of!鈥
