Natasha Doyle's ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Experience
Hello! I’m Natasha and I am a student here at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø studying Primary Education in the Welsh language. I spent time in the working world after leaving school, but teaching was always a passion I wanted to pursue.
Initially, I enrolled on the English route, but after a long thought I wanted to try the Welsh route. I was educated through the medium of Welsh, and so I feel the need to give it a go.
I felt a lack of confidence at first, as I hadn’t used the language for a long time, especially in an academic environment. However, I quickly found myself feeling confident enough to continue the course through the medium of Welsh.
I’m so glad I did, as it has now opened many doors for me with the opportunities to teach in Welsh schools and continue to celebrate Welshness. I will be willing To encourage anyone who has the ability to speak Welsh to study through the medium of Welsh, even if you do not feel your skills are of a standard, the support is exceptionally good. There are many opportunities to build your skills at university.

Why did you choose ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø?
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø has always received a strong reputation particularly within education. I wanted a university that is willing to provide support and plenty of experiences at school. After reading about the course, I saw plenty of time on teaching experience and also the support on campus. I have also spent much of my childhood in Carmarthen as my grandparents lived in the town and I have random memories of the area and the people.
What did you enjoy outside your studies?
I enjoy hanging out with friends and keeping fit by going for walks and enjoying the outdoors.
What do you hope to do when you graduate?
Hopefully I’ll go for a job straight away within a Welsh Primary School. I hope to teach a class myself in the future and then use the skills and experiences from university within the world of work.
What is your favourite thing about Primary Education with QTS?
I enjoy the element of studying on campus but also the opportunity to go out and get first-hand experience in the classroom. I think the lecturers provide very rewarding and professional lectures, and plenty of support throughout.
What is your favourite thing about the Carmarthen Campus?
I like the atmosphere around campus, it’s very friendly. The CWAD is a lovely area to have coffee and cake and relax with friends. I also love the location, the town centre is very close. The library is one of my favourite facilities, the opening times are very flexible to allow everyone to get in a convenient time for them.
Did you come to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø using an alternative route?
I joined my course through the clearing system, because I realised while I was working a job that I didn’t enjoy I felt I wanted to change. At first I thought it was too late, however clearing made it possible for me. I interviewed online and then started in September.
